WASHINGTON, DC, May 9, 2005
Vision Chain, Inc. (www.visionchain.com), a leading global provider of demand and supply chain solutions, announced today that Shawn Dolley, CEO, was invited to assemble and moderate a panel discussion during the recent gathering of CIO's and business executives from leading consumer packaged goods firms attending the Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA) 2005 Information Systems and Logistics/Distribution Conference in Palm Beach, Florida. This three-day conference drew hundreds of senior logistics and information technology executives from CPG manufacturers and leading retailers who explored solutions to some the pressing issues affecting today's global supply chain.
In the discussion, "What Are Companies Really Doing with Point of Sale Data?" Mr. Dolley and colleagues highlighted some of the trends involving ways to harness the power of POS data to streamline demand planning and forecasting. Among the topics covered were item synchronization, ROI, trends in data quality and data granularity. "Innovators" participating on the panel included executives from Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, H.J. Heinz, The Clorox Company, and World Kitchen, Inc.
- Melissa Kiewe, Director of Consumer Marketing Support, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, discussed her experiences in developing a multi-retailer demand system with a focus on consumer-centric marketing.
- Chris Shepherd, BDM Category Manager, H.J. Heinz, discussed challenges in validating ROI from retailers where data provided is not granular enough for frequent store level changes.
- Eric Liberatore, Modular Development Manager, The Clorox Company, described how integrating cleansed point-of-sale data into ProSpace using Vision Chain decreased from three days to three minutes.
- John Conklin, CIO, World Kitchen, Inc., spoke about how he is successfully using the Vision Chain solution to improve in-stock levels at key retailers and to enhance collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment (CPFR).
"We're delighted to play a prominent role by hosting this session at this prestigious GMA conference," said Shawn Dolley, CEO Vision Chain. "We recognize the many data challenges faced by CPG companies in obtaining a true, integrated view of multiple, disparate sources of information that is delivered up the supply chain. Our technology solution addresses this in a way that enables real-time decisions that result in more accurate forecasts, reduced short-pays, and enhanced promotions budget allocation for CPG companies."
