Vision Chain Announces Industry’s First Integration Platform for Creating Demand Data Networks

WASHINGTON, DC, February 25, 2004

Vision Chain, Inc. (www.visionchain.com), a leading global provider of demand and supply chain solutions, announced today the launch of its application programming interface (API). Vision Chain API enables consumer product companies to create a single source of point-of-sale and syndicated data. The API can make these cleansed, matched hierarchies of data available for a wide set of existing applications in the enterprise. Now a wide variety of applications such as trade promotions management, retail execution, category management, and demand forecasting can all share the same source of market demand data.

"Bellwether consumer goods companies have a suite of sales planning applications," said Jerry McClay, a partner in IBM's Business Consulting Services. "The new data feeds for these applications is just as broad: weather, POS, Nielsen, TDLinks, Spectra, and more. The only way to have a single version of the truth is with a product like Vision Chain. We believe IBM integration experience and Vision Chain software is the best match for the need to create apples-to-apples data integration.

"Creating a demand data network within a CPG means moving terabytes of data," said Vision Chain's Chief Technology Officer, Peter Wilding. "A handful of key accounts can generate data to be mined for out-of-stocks, distribution voids, incorrect merchandising, shelf errors; the list goes on and on. None of that is being done today by existing information technology investments. We believe increased return on invested capital and return on assets results from turning on the point-of-sale spigot.
